Research
All research on this page can be used for type and typography brief two projects. For book research, go to type and typography brief 2.
I started out looking at physical magazine layouts.
Library magazines.
Then I looked online at Pinterest for some magazine layouts, specifically splash pages to see how images could be manipulated.
These are my favourite magazines I found in the library. I love the idea of having a drop cap overlay an image. I also like the splash pages I included. The hierarchy works well, especially in nature magazines.
These are my favourite layouts from Pinterest. I like how the colour palette reaches over all the pages.
Thumbnails
For my thumbnails, I started with some more traditional layout methods, looking at very standard layouts, which can be seen on the left-hand side of the designs.
I then moved to look at less traditional ideas, using shapes to link to the theme of space.
